If you suffer with gluten intolerance then your diet is likely to be very restricted, particularly because a lot of the most popular products on the market right now contain gluten. One of the food items that you won’t be able to eat is bread, unless it is gluten free.

What you will find with gluten free bread is that it is often far more expensive than your standard loaf which doesn’t seem fair at all. This is why many people are turning to making their own gluten free bread at home.

Of course, you can do this by hand by using traditional bread making methods. However, it is a much better idea to purchase a gluten free bread maker. There are plenty of these appliances on the market right now to choose from.

If you want to save yourself some time searching for the right model for you then please take a look at our reviews below for some of the best gluten free bread makers that are available right now.

5. Panasonic 197978 Bread Maker – The Best Choice

Features: 31 Programs – 13 Hour Timer – 3 Loaf Settings – 3 Crust Settings – Ingredients Dispenser – 18 Bread Making Modes – Accessories Included

Pros:

  • 31 different baking programs including gluten free bread.
  • 3 crust settings and 3 loaf settings so you can make it exactly to your tastes.
  • Ingredients dispenser so you can add yeast, nuts, raisins and more.
  • Plenty of accessories are included with the bread maker.

Cons:

  • This is more expensive than a lot of the other bread makers that we tested.
  • It can take some time to figure out the different programs.

The Review

Number 1 on our list of the best gluten free bread makers goes to this fantastic machine from Panasonic. Knowing how reputable this brand is, we knew to expect good things and we were definitely not disappointed with the results.

What first attracted us to this particular bread maker is the sheer amount of programs that are available. With 31 different programs on offer, you are able to make bread exactly how you want it. We tried out several of them, but for the purposes of our review we focused on the gluten free setting.

We found that it was very easy to use, very quick and produced a lovely loaf of bread in no time at all. The other programs that we tried were equally as easy to use, despite being a little difficult to navigate at times.

We especially liked the ingredients dispenser with this model. We were able to add all sorts of ingredients to our bread without having to do anything manually. We also liked the three crust settings. Everyone likes their bread differently, so it is good to have the option to bake it as light or dark as you want.

Overall, we were incredibly impressed with this Panasonic bread maker and cannot recommend it highly enough.

4. Kenwood BM450 Bread Maker

Features: 15 Programs – 15 Hour Timer – 0 Crust Settings – 3 Loaf Settings – Accessories Included

Pros:

  • 15 different bread making programs.
  • 15 hour timer so you can bake bread overnight.
  • Nice range of accessories included.

Cons:

  • There is no ingredients dispenser so there is more work to do.
  • There are no crust settings.

The Review

The next model that we chose to add to our list of the best gluten free bread makers is this one from Kenwood. When it comes to kitchen appliances, Kenwood are among some of the best, so we definitely wanted to test out this model and see if it matched their solid reputation.

We have to say that we were definitely not disappointed with this bread maker. Starting off, what we really liked was the sleek design. It looks fantastic and really works well in a modern kitchen. This Kenwood bread maker has 15 different programs to take advantage of, including a gluten free setting.

We tested out a few of the different programs to see what they had to offer, but the one that we really wanted to try was the gluten free setting. We tried it out and were very satisfied with the results. The bread came out light and well-baked. The settings are very easy to navigate and we had no difficulties.

However, there are a few negative aspects with this bread maker. First of all, there is no ingredients dispenser with this one which adds extra work to the bread making process. As well as this, there are no crust settings to choose from so if you are specific in how well done you like your bread then this may be an issue for you.

Although there are these negative aspects, overall this Kenwood bread maker is a fantastic choice. We were very pleased with the results and would definitely recommend it.

3. Panasonic SD-2511 Multi-Function Bread Maker

Features: 17 Programs – Adjustable Timer – 3 Crust Settings – 3 Loaf Settings – Ingredients Dispenser – Accessories Included

Pros:

  • Large number of different bread making programs to choose from.
  • 3 crust and loaf settings for creating the perfect loaf of bread.
  • Ingredients dispenser to make work easier.

Cons:

  • The design is a little bulky.
  • It is a little expensive compared to some of the other bread makers that we have tested.

The Review

Having already tested out one Panasonic bread maker, we wanted to see if there was another that we could add to our list of the best gluten free bread makers and settled on this model after a thorough testing. Although there are a few niggles, overall it is a very good model with plenty of benefits.

The design of this bread maker initially put us off a little. It is quite bulky and doesn’t really have the same modern feel of the previous Panasonic model that we tested. However, we decided to give it a chance and we were very glad that we did because what it lacks in design it definitely makes up for in features.

There are 17 different bread making programs to choose from, including a program for gluten free bread which is the one that we tested. The thing that we really liked with this one was the ingredients dispenser. We were able to make all different kinds of gluten free bread with this and found it very easy to use.

The end results were the perfect loaf of gluten free bread. There are also a nice range of accessories included with this one. It is a little more expensive than some of the others that we have tested, but the features are definitely worth the extra money.

2. Homeover Bread Maker

Features: 15 Programs – 15 Hour Timer – 3 Crust Settings – 3 Loaf Settings – Accessories Included

Pros:

  • Plenty of accessories included with this bread maker.
  • 3 crust settings and loaf settings to make the perfect loaf.
  • Good amount of bread making programs to choose from.

Cons:

  • There is no ingredients dispenser with this one.
  • Navigating the settings could have been easier.

The Review

We hadn’t actually heard of the brand Homeover before, so we were eager to test this bread maker out to see what it had to offer to see if it would make our list of the best gluten free bread makers. For a lesser known brand, we were actually quite impressed with its performance.

The design of this bread maker is actually very sleek. We were very impressed with the feel of the quality of the appliance. With 15 different programs to choose from, there are plenty of bread making options so making the perfect loaf of bread is very easy.

We also liked the fact that there are three different loaf and crust settings to choose from so we were able to really customise the baking process. There were a couple of things that we didn’t really like with this bread maker.

First of all, this one is also missing the ingredients dispenser. This may be down to personal choice but it seems to be missing something without it. The other issue that we had is navigating the different programs. However after a few runs we were able to figure it all out so we would still recommend this bread maker.

1. Andrew James Bread Maker

Features: 17 Programs – 15 Hour Timer – Ingredients Dispenser – Accessories Included

Pros:

  • Good amount of programs to choose from.
  • Good amount of accessories included.
  • Ingredients dispenser is included.

Cons:

  • No crust or loaf settings to choose from.

The Review

We have tested Andrew James appliances before and have always been quite impressed, so we had to test one out to see if we could add it to our list of the best gluten free bread makers. Whilst we were impressed with this one, there are a few issues that we had with it.

The main things that we liked were the amount of programs available, including a gluten free setting, the fact that there is an ingredients dispenser and that there are a good amount of accessories included with the bread maker itself. The machine is easy to use and does produce a nice loaf.

However, we didn’t like the lack of crust and loaf settings. We felt that it would have performed much better with these settings included. Other than this, this Andrew James Bread Maker is a good option if you are looking for something that is high quality and works well.

Hopefully, you now have a much better idea of some of the best gluten free bread makers and you are now able to choose from the five listed above to add to your kitchen so that you can make bread at home.
